Microtunneling

Microtunneling is an alternative method to conventional tunneling. Microtunneling is used in applications under high water pressure and unfavorable ground conditions. We deploy a remotely controlled, guided microtunnel boring machine (MTBM) to mine tunnels up to 2 meters in diameter. A pipe-jacking operation provides continuous support for the excavation, making it effective for construction under roadways, waterways, and other challenging situations.

Hydraulic jacks inside the entry shaft accurately propel the MTBM to the retrieval shaft. A closed-loop system takes spoils to the surface where the slurry is cleaned and reused after spoils are removed for proper disposal.

Our service provides highly professional technical staff to assist with peaks in workload or when short-term specialist expertise is required. We offer a range of secondment options allowing clients to use their project budgets in the most cost-effective way, eliminating management time spent on recruitment and the possibility of expensive selection mistakes.

Driving Pit

In order to install a pipeline using this technique, driving and reception pits are constructed, usually at manhole positions. The dimensions and construction of a driving pit vary according to the pipe diameter and specific requirements of any drive with economics being a key factor. Pit sizes will vary according to the excavation methods employed, although these can be reduced if required by special circumstances.

We hold a strong reputation for providing professional services to various Micrtunnelling and trenchless projects. We have a proven record in providing microtunnel engineering, costing, programming, construction, and truck record on project delivery for major underground infrastructure projects.
